Hotel Afrique
Hotel Afrique
I began with project, in 2004, with an assignment from Wallpaper magazine to look at a side of African countries we rarely see: life in the elite hotels. I travelled to seventeen countries during two trips and was constantly fascinated by the inside/outside spaces around these hybrid spaces, and the stories that emerged from them.
Dogon
Dogon
In 2009 I worked on a short assignment from a Norwegian NGO photographing around the theme of women and water in Mali. I highlighted the work of women carrying water in buckets from boreholes on the valley floor to the villages perched on the Bandiagara escarpment.
Footprint
Footprint
Footprint: Europe’s Landscape in Flux was photographed in 2007/2008 entirely on 5×4 film. The aim was to look at how the landscape was changing in the context of climate change, and at the same time adapting to land use and development pressures. A section of the book on ‘Hot Cities’ was commissioned by Wallpaper magazine.
St Petersburg
St Petersburg
I made two trips to St Petersburg during 2010/2011 with a commission from a publisher. It’s great walking city with so much history etched into its streets. I set out to capture something of its grandeur.
The Time of Trees
The Time of Trees
